ChatGPT alternatives that work in Russia (2026)

Short version: GigaChat from Sber, Alisa/YandexGPT from Yandex and DeepSeek (web version) are all available in Russia. ChatGPT itself is officially unavailable there. If you need an AI chat that works from Russia with ruble payment, there's Twelver. Below is an honest comparison by price, language and access.

ChatGPT remains the benchmark, but from Russia it comes with two headaches: the service is officially unavailable, and you can't pay for a subscription with a Russian card. That's why people look for a "ChatGPT alternative" for the sake of an accessible tool — a Russian model, or a chat that works from Russia with ruble payment.

What to pick for your situation

There's no pedestal — just a choice that fits the task. In short, by segment:

Need something free and in Russian, right now — GigaChat or Alisa. Both available in Russia, no payment needed for basic tasks.
Reasoning and code matter, budget is zero — DeepSeek: a strong model with free web access.
Want one chat for text and media, paid in rubles — Twelver: an AI chat plus image, video, music and voiceover generation in the same conversation.

Being honest about Twelver

Twelver isn't "a Russian ChatGPT" and it isn't access to ChatGPT itself. It's a separate AI chat that works from Russia with ruble payment, and in the same conversation it can generate images, video, music and voiceover. If you specifically need ChatGPT and already have access to it, use it directly.

Is ChatGPT even legal to use in Russia?

Using ChatGPT itself isn't banned under Russian law — the service is officially unavailable because of restrictions on OpenAI's side (registering and paying from Russia is difficult). In practice, that's why people use Russian models or a chat that works from Russia with ruble payment.
